In a stunning display at the Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett smashed his first T20I century against Tanzania during the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2025. At just 24 years old, the right-handed batter became the youngest cricketer ever to score centuries in all three international formats—Test, ODI, and now T20I.
Zimbabwe dominated the match on Tuesday, securing a massive 113-run victory. Tanzania captain Kassim Nassoro won the toss and chose to bowl first, but that decision backfired quickly.
Bennett led the charge for Zimbabwe, blasting 111 runs off 60 balls to power his team to 221 for five wickets in 20 overs. Tadiwanashe Marumani chipped in with 49 off 34 balls, while Ryan Burl added a quick 22 from 11 deliveries and Sikandar Raza contributed 19 off just nine balls.
Tanzania’s bowlers fought hard, with Khalidy Juma taking two wickets for 39 runs in four overs and Ally Kimote grabbing two for 42 in four overs. Laksh Bakrania also picked up one wicket for 35 runs in two overs.
Chasing a daunting 222, Tanzania crumbled under pressure. Their batsmen managed only 108 all out in 18.4 overs. Top scorers included Abhik Patwa with 32 off 22 balls, Nassoro’s 25 from 27 deliveries, and Sivaraj Selvaraj’s 20 off 18 balls.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers sealed the deal, with Brad Evans starring by claiming four wickets for just 16 runs in four overs. Richard Ngarava took two for 13 in three overs, and Sikandar Raza impressed with two wickets for six runs in two overs. Tinotenda Maposa grabbed one for 17 in three overs, and Ryan Burl finished with one for 24 in 2.4 overs.
