Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared warm greetings on Hindi Diwas, calling Hindi the heartbeat of India’s national unity. He highlighted how this vibrant language connects people across the country’s diverse tongues and dialects.
In a post on X, Shah wrote, “Heartfelt greetings on Hindi Diwas! Hindi acts as a bridge among our languages and dialects, strengthening national unity. It’s now stepping up as the go-to language for technology, science, and research.”
Shah also remembered Hindi’s key role in tough times. “From the freedom struggle to the challenging days of the Emergency, Hindi has always brought our citizens together,” he added. He believes Hindi will keep playing a big part in building a developed India that’s self-reliant in languages while embracing all of them.
Other top leaders joined the celebrations too. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari posted, “Heartfelt wishes to all countrymen on Hindi Diwas.” External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized Hindi’s global appeal, saying, “Heartfelt greetings on Hindi Diwas. Hindi is a key part of the world’s growing interest in our culture and traditions. Special congratulations to all linguists and Hindi lovers promoting it worldwide.”
Hindi Diwas falls every year on September 14, marking a historic moment in 1949 when India’s Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as one of the official languages. This day celebrates how Hindi unites India’s rich mix of linguistic and cultural communities.
The Department of Official Language, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has boosted Hindi’s use in government work since 1975. Last year, the central government marked the Diamond Jubilee of the Official Language with special events.
As India grows, Hindi Diwas reminds us of the power of language in fostering unity and progress.
