A tragic accident struck Kolhapur, Maharashtra, when a collapsing slab at an under-construction fire station killed one worker and injured six others. The incident happened Tuesday night during routine construction work for the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation’s new fire department building.
Local fire brigade teams rushed to the scene in the Fulewadi area and managed to rescue five trapped individuals, including the site contractor and other staff. Construction had reached the final stages of the slab when it suddenly gave way, trapping everyone underneath.
Kolhapur Municipal Corporation Chief Fire Officer Manish Ranbise shared details with : “We were finishing up the slab work today when it collapsed. Six people got stuck, and our fire brigade pulled out five of them right away.”
Additional Superintendent of Police Dhiraj Kumar Bachchu confirmed the death toll, noting that the victim perished in the roof collapse at the site.
Authorities are still investigating the construction accident in Kolhapur, and more updates are expected soon.
