Actor Arun Vijay couldn’t stop praising director-star Dhanush during a pre-release event for their upcoming Tamil film Idli Kadai in Madurai. Arun plays the antagonist Ashwin in this emotional entertainer, and he shared why Dhanush has such a dedicated fan base.
Arun explained that he jumped at the chance to portray a strong villain after his memorable role in Yennai Arindhal. "I was hunting for a solid story with a meaty antagonist part, but nothing clicked until Dhanush reached out for Idli Kadai," Arun said. He highlighted how the film keeps the character powerful from start to finish.
Dhanush shines as both actor and director, according to Arun. "Everyone knows he’s amazing on screen, but directing revealed even more— he’s just a genuine, kind guy who makes the whole team feel at ease," Arun added. He recalled fun behind-the-scenes moments, like Dhanush suggesting impromptu stops at roadside eateries during travel. "We’d grab a bite there, hop on bikes to the shoot spots, and dive right in. Those memories stick with you. He’s so down-to-earth and true to himself—that’s why his fans stay so loyal."
For those new to the buzz, Idli Kadai stars Dhanush and Nithya Menen in the leads, with Arun Vijay and Shalini Pandey as the antagonists. Dhanush directs his own script, marking another exciting project from his Wunderbar Films banner in partnership with Dawn Pictures. Kiran Koushik handles cinematography, while G V Prakash composes the music.
Originally set for a worldwide release on April 10, the film now hits theaters on October 1, building even more anticipation among Dhanush fans and Tamil cinema lovers.
