Singer Trey Songz tells cops he’s the victim as he’s arrested for trashing NYC hookah lounge: video
A new clip of the arrest shows R&B star Trey Songz insisting he was the victim after police seized him early Sunday morning for allegedly looting a Manhattan hookah lounge.
In the video that Instagram user nyuncut_tv uploaded, the 41‑year‑old explains, “I didn’t touch anybody,” as a woman officer escorts him toward an NYPD squad car. He repeats, “Hey, bro, tell them I didn’t do nothing to nobody,” adding, “I didn’t do nothing to nobody. They assaulted me. Miss, they assaulted me.”
The footage also shows another person trying to calm the officers by saying, “Nobody’s pressing charges,” and then, “Tell him what he’s under arrest for.” Beside this, a woman calls out in the background, “He didn’t do nothing.”
The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. when Neverson supposedly caused about $1,500 in damage to Mira Mediterranean Hookah Lounge on 34th Street, according to prosecutors. Witnesses reported a “multiple individuals” brawl erupted at the bar.
During the handcuffing, the “Slow Motion” hit‑maker says to the police, “They told me I’d get paid, and I’m not paid.”
Later that Sunday, Neverson faced criminal mischief charges for the lounge incident and also faced unrelated assault accusations for allegedly slapping an employee at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on December 4. In that case, officers said he reacted “needlessly” when the employee warned him the club would close at about 4:25 a.m.
He was released without bail for both offenses.
In a statement released Sunday, Trey’s lawyer, Mitchell Schuster, said the confrontation began when patrons “instigated a confrontation and attempted to surround him.” Schuster added, “His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation and an altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion,” noting that “Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested.”
