Gandhinagar, Gujarat – Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed how unseasonal rain has damaged many standing crops across the state.
Patel told senior officials in the Agriculture and Revenue Departments to quickly assess losses and make sure farmers receive relief without delay.
The CM met with district collectors and asked them to submit detailed crop‑damage reports right away. He also directed local agriculture officers to speed up surveys at the taluka and village levels.
Recent rains and sudden weather changes have hit districts in Saurashtra, North and Central Gujarat. Cloudy skies and gusty winds damaged crops that were close to harvest, especially cotton, groundnut and other seasonal crops.
Patel reminded officials to keep channels open with farmers. The government will step in fast once ground reports come in, he said. “Don’t let farmers wait for assistance under existing relief and insurance schemes,” he urged.
The meeting examined the crop‑insurance system and the supply of agricultural inputs in the hardest-hit areas. Patel called for transparency in the damage‑assessment process and for real beneficiaries to get help.
The state government will keep a close eye on the situation and adjust plans as weather shifts and survey results come in.
