On Wednesday in Patna, a major technical failure in the audio system threw the Central Hall into chaos during Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s address. As soon as the Governor started speaking, the sound went dead, and for nearly fifteen minutes his voice was unheard, leaving ministers and legislators scrambling for a connection. The microphones stayed silent, so everyone tried to listen with great effort. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar began looking furious, repeatedly turning to the tech staff, while the Governor appeared surprised by the sudden confusion.
In the midst of the address, Legislative Council member Urmila Thakur shouted loudly to show her displeasure, but the broken speakers prevented her voice from carrying, even though her agitation was visible to all. Nitish noticed her and said firmly, “You should sit down.” She complied, which momentarily startled the assembly. With no audio, members began to protest until the technical team repaired the systems, after which the Governor resumed his remarks, outlining the government’s achievements, its five‑year roadmap, and current job‑creation initiatives.
This Wednesday marked the third day of the winter session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and the third day of the first session of the 18th Assembly. The Governor’s address was set to be a joint sitting of both Houses, but Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav was again absent, having flown to Delhi the day before.
