Uttera Singh’s ‘Pinch’ to make Asia Premiere at IFFI after overwhelming debut at Tribeca Festival

Mumbai – Actor‑filmmaker Uttera Singh’s first feature film, Pinch, will hit the big screen in India this month for its Asia premiere at the 25 November International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The movie already has a buzz of its own, having earned a standing‑ovation at its world premiere in June at the Tribeca Festival in New York City.

What Pinch is about

Set during the colorful Navratri festival, Pinch is a dark comedic drama that takes place inside an Indian apartment complex. The plot follows Maitri, a young travel‑vlogger who is frustrated with her career, dealing with family pressure, and carrying the weight of a painful loss. One night, a seemingly harmless encounter with a trusted neighbour throws her life into chaos and forces everyone in her building to confront secrets and shifting power dynamics.

Uttera Singh wrote, directed, and stars in the film, joined by a talented ensemble cast: Geeta Agrawal, Sunita Rajwar, Sapna Sand, Badri Chavan, and Nitish Panday. The film’s fresh voice, combined with sharp social commentary, made it a hit for both audiences and critics at Tribeca.

Why IFFI matters

“The film festival circuit is essential for independent filmmakers,” Uttera said. “It gives stories like ours a platform to reach people and get discovered.” She added, “I’m thrilled that IFFI is championing Pinch. Showing it in India, where its characters belong, feels like a homecoming.” The IFFI screening is scheduled for 25 November, giving Indian audiences a chance to see the film that has already sparked international interest.

Tribeca 2025 – a milestone

Earlier this year, Uttera posted on social media: “BIG TIME NEWS! PINCH is officially an Official Selection of the 2025 Tribeca Festival as part of the International Narrative Competition! We’re beyond honoured to be included among this year’s boldest, most visionary storytellers.” She praised the cast and highlighted the film’s themes: power, guilt, and resistance.

Why you should watch Pinch

  • Unique story: Mix of dark humor and real social issues set against a festive backdrop.
  • Strong performances: Rich character arcs delivered by a talented ensemble.
  • Global recognition: Premiers at Tribeca and now IFFI showcase its international appeal.

Fans of Indian cinema, independent film lovers, and anyone curious about the complexities of city life will find Pinch engaging and thought‑provoking. Keep an eye out for its screening at IFFI – the film is already one of the most talked‑about releases this year.
