Rachana Mistry, the talented TV actress, recently shared how Bollywood star Rani Mukerji’s fierce role in the Mardaani movies sparked her love for strong, empowering characters. Playing a responsible figure on screen feels like a game-changer for her, and it’s all thanks to that inspiring uniform vibe.
In a fun chat, Rachana opened up about slipping into her character’s uniform on her latest show. "It feels amazing—super powerful," she said. "But it comes with this huge responsibility, like nothing can go wrong. Sometimes it’s tricky, you know? If the cap’s off or during those action scenes, I have to watch out so the uniform stays perfect. Still, the second I put it on, I feel unstoppable. I’m just 5 feet 2 inches tall, but suddenly I tower like I’m 6 feet, and everything else seems tiny. That’s the real power of it!"
Rachana admitted that roles like this—think tough police officers or IPS officers—aren’t super common on Indian television. "Honestly, not many," she revealed. "I did play an IPS officer in Dabangii towards the end, but that’s rare. Rani Mukerji in Mardaani blew me away. Both movies! I love her in uniform—her aura, her energy, the way she owns that cop role. It’s so real."
What really hooks Rachana about Rani’s performance? "Her dialogue delivery and how she tackles tough situations—it makes you think, ‘Yeah, a real police officer would act just like that.’ It’s inspiring and feels totally authentic."
Right now, fans can catch Rachana shining as the lead in Jagriti: Ek Nayi Subah, a hit show that just hit 300 episodes. If you’re into strong women characters in Indian TV shows or Bollywood inspiration like Mardaani, Rachana’s journey is one to watch!
