Delhi CM Rekha Gupta flags off ‘Namo Run’ under ‘Fit Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ initiative

New Delhi, Nov 16 – Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta opened a big youth‑fitness day called Fit Yuva for Viksit Bharat. The highlight was the Namo Run, a walk‑run that teaches young people road safety and healthy habits.

The event gathered students, school clubs and sports lovers. Colorful banners, music and cheering crowds turned the street into a lively arena for fitness and safe driving.

When speaking to the crowd, CM Gupta said sports are shaping India’s young generation. She praised women athletes, noting that “today, girls play top‑level cricket. Every match matters, and every player matters.” She congratulated the organisers and all the runners, stressing how important this day is for bringing people together.

BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva joined the remarks. He urged families to make sports a regular part of life. “Kids who play sports develop focus and discipline,” he said. “Encouraging them to pick at least one discipline will keep them away from unhealthy habits and build community spirit.”

Minister of State for Transport Harsh Malhotra highlighted CM Gupta’s close contact with the public. He praised her for meeting people at events every day, saying she keeps the city connected better than former leaders.

The Namo Run itself focused on road safety. Organisers gave safety demos, briefings and asked youth to pledge to follow traffic rules. A fitter, safer young generation directly supports the country’s goal of a Viksit Bharat – a developed, holistic India.

The event was a strong reminder that sports, fitness and road safety go hand in hand, building a healthier, more united Delhi for its young citizens.
