Delhi police have cracked down on a cyber fraud ring that tricked job seekers with fake offers from Indigo Airlines. Officers from the North Cyber Police Station arrested two suspects, Azad Khan and Ajay, after a tip-off and technical tracking led to a raid.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raja Banthia shared details on the bust. He said the scammers contacted victims promising jobs as cabin crew or ground staff at the airline. To seal the deal, they sent phony offer letters and even fake airport gate passes, demanding payments for “processing fees” or training.
Police filed charges under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, India’s new criminal code, and seized the mobile phone and SIM cards used in the scams. Banthia noted that this Indigo Airlines job scam targeted desperate job hunters across the country.
The investigation continues as officers hunt for more clues and possible accomplices in this cybercrime case. If you’ve encountered similar fake job offers, report them to avoid falling victim to such frauds in India.
