Uttarakhand CM addresses foundation stone laying ceremony of roads reconstructed under Central Road Infrastructure Fund in Udham Singh Nagar

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami kicked off a key infrastructure project on Thursday, laying the foundation stone virtually for a major road reconstruction in Udham Singh Nagar district. The event focused on roads rebuilt under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), aiming to boost connectivity and growth in the region.

The star of the show is a 20-kilometer stretch from Manunagar to Gadarpur, Dineshpur, Matkota, and Haldwani. Built with Rs 55 crore, the project widens and strengthens the road into a double-lane highway. Dhami highlighted how this upgrade will transform daily life in the Terai region. “Once complete, it’ll make commuting a breeze for locals,” he said. “Traffic jams will vanish, and industrial development will speed up, giving a real lift to the economy.”

This road will touch the lives of about two lakh residents and farmers nearby. Better connectivity means faster, cheaper transport for raw materials, cutting down on time and costs. Dhami praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, noting Uttarakhand is on a roll with prosperity and development. “We’re prioritizing road connectivity to connect our state like never before,” he added.

Under the double-engine government—referring to the coordinated efforts of state and central leadership—Dhami said they’re tackling long-pending projects. They plan to launch operations soon at the medical college in Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar. In the past four years, over 25,000 young people have landed government jobs, a point Dhami emphasized as a win for the youth.

Other big moves include the Industrial Smart City project in Khurpia and the foundation stone for an international airport at Pantnagar, set to break ground soon. These steps signal Uttarakhand’s push toward faster industrial growth and better infrastructure.

Shifting to education challenges, Dhami took a firm stand against cheating. The state rolled out its toughest anti-cheating law in 2022-23, leading to smooth exams and jailing over 100 members of the cheating mafia. “We’ve ensured fair processes, helping 25,000 candidates secure jobs,” he said. But he accused the coaching mafia and cheating networks of teaming up to stir trouble through paper leaks in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) exam.

“They’re launching a cheating jihad, spreading chaos even before investigations start,” Dhami warned. “People who’ve never taken an exam are fueling the unrest.” He vowed strict action against those behind the UKSSSC paper leak, with police already arresting suspects. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) will dig into the case, and culprits will face the full force of the law to protect the recruitment process.
