In Patna, JD-U spokesperson and MLC Neeraj Kumar fired back at Bihar’s Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Monday, slamming him for what he called cluelessness on economic issues and a lack of moral standing to bash the state government.
Kumar quickly shot down Yadav’s recent claim that Bihar’s government has committed to Rs 2 lakh crore in spending. “The real number is just Rs 1.08 lakh crore,” he said. He pointed out that Bihar’s GDP hits Rs 10 lakh crore, and welfare schemes depend on the state’s finances and help from the central government—not wild guesses. Kumar added that the Finance Minister will handle the details, but Yadav is just pretending to be a big-shot leader.
Turning up the heat on Yadav’s attacks against government programs, Kumar mocked him with a sharp dig: “Who would copy a 420 man—a total cheater?” It was a clear nod to ongoing corruption cases tied to Yadav and his family, including the infamous fodder scam and the IRCTC land-for-jobs scandal. “Bihar feels ashamed every time Tejashwi Yadav’s name pops up in court over these scams,” Kumar said. “A leader like that has no right to question our system.”
Kumar didn’t stop there. He accused Yadav and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav of disrespecting Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, the late social justice icon who just received India’s Bharat Ratna award. Instead of focusing on Bihar’s growth, Kumar claimed, the duo chased personal gains like grabbing six bighas of land in Patna and properties statewide.
He even brought up an old story: Lalu once supposedly refused Thakur a government car and told him to show up by rickshaw. Slamming the RJD for trying to claim credit for Thakur’s honor, Kumar said, “We’re proud to lead the people; they just bring insults. Anyone calling Rahul Gandhi or Tejashwi Yadav as people’s leaders is disrespecting Karpoori Thakur.”
This came a day after Yadav, on Sunday, accused the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government of corruption and financial mismanagement in a heated speech. Bihar politics heats up as these rivalries play out ahead of key elections.
