J&K: Police recover 46 missing mobile phones in Ganderbal

Srinagar, Dec. 26 – Ganderbal police announced that it has recovered 46 missing mobile phones in the past few months, a haul valued in the lakhs.
The Cyber Police Station in the district says it traced the devices across different parts of Jammu and Kashmir after receiving multiple complaints through the CEIR Portal and on‑site reports. Dedicated teams from the cyber unit were deployed, and after persistent technical and investigative work, the phones were retrieved.
All 46 handsets have been returned to their owners on Friday. Police highlighted the operation as evidence of the “commitment” of the Ganderbal Police to tackle citizens’ complaints and curb cyber‑enabled crimes by leveraging technology and coordinated efforts.
The cyber station urged residents to remain vigilant with their phones and other electronics to avoid fraud. It reminded anyone who suspects a cyber offence to report immediately to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in and to contact the Ganderbal Cyber Police Station without delay.
Specialized cyber police stations are active in several Jammu and Kashmir districts, handling cases ranging from bank fraud and digital arrests to the misuse of social media for terrorism and other criminal activities. The Ganderbal unit reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the public’s digital interests.
