Doctors admit to performing ‘non-standard’ gender-affirming surgeries on youth — including castrations

Doctors are now admitting that they sometimes perform unconventional gender‑affirming procedures on children, and in a few cases they’re proceeding mainly for cosmetic reasons simply because there’s a noticeable uptick in people asking for “nonbinary” surgeries.

According to newly released videos that The Free Press obtained, several clinicians were shown at closed‑door U.S. medical conferences discussing how they were willing to meet patients’ demands—even if that meant stepping outside standard guidelines. The recordings, taken over a handful of years, capture doctors chatting about carrying out life‑changing operations after doing little or no mental‑health evaluation or gender‑identity assessment.

The footage also revealed a striking exchange: when asked about an 18‑year‑old graduate who wanted to appear like “a Barbie down there,” a social worker from Oregon explained that the student, who identified as Sky, was asexual and had no interest in future sexual activity. Sky requested a procedure to remove all erogenous tissue. While the final outcome for this patient remains unknown, the social worker noted that requests for “nonbinary” procedures are “growing in number.”

At another international conference in 2022, an unnamed practitioner from Utah admitted feeling overwhelmed by the rapid increase in “nonbinary” interventions. She candidly shared that the idea of creating a “Pinterest board” of gender‑specific options had crossed her mind, and that she often felt she was “winging it.” Her comments echo a broader sense of improvisation in the field, as she mused, “I feel like we’re all just winging it, you know? And which is okay, you’re winging it too. But maybe we can just, like, wing it together.”

These controversial videos arrive just as public debate over gender‑affirming care heats up. Since 2021, 28 states controlled by Republicans have passed laws to ban or heavily restrict such care for minors.
