South Africa’s Tazmin Brits has rocketed up the ICC women’s ODI batter rankings, jumping 15 spots to fifth place after a stunning series against Pakistan. The latest rankings dropped Tuesday from Dubai, just as teams gear up for the Women’s World Cup kicking off September 30 in India and Sri Lanka.
Brits lit up the three-match ODI series, which South Africa won 2-1. She smashed her career-best 171 not out off 141 balls in one game, featuring 20 fours and four sixes, and notched back-to-back centuries overall. Meanwhile, in India, Australia edged out the hosts 2-1 in their own series, with strong batting displays boosting several players.
India’s Smriti Mandhana holds the top spot in the women’s ODI rankings, hitting a career-high 818 points thanks to her consecutive centuries in the second and third games against Australia. Australia’s Beth Mooney climbed two places to third after her match-winning ton in the series finale versus India.
Pakistan’s Sidra Amin surged 10 spots to 13th, while South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp rose two to ninth and India’s Deepti Sharma jumped six to 18th, both shining with all-round efforts. Kapp also closed in on the women’s ODI all-rounder top spot, moving up one to second—just points behind Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner.
Other big movers include Australia’s Georgia Voll, who leaped 28 places to 61st, and Pakistan’s Natalia Pervaiz, who climbed 54 spots despite sitting outside the top 100 after a half-century in the second ODI.
Excitement builds as all the teams head to the Women’s World Cup, where they’ll battle it out starting next week.
