Martha Stewart says ‘lots of people’ slide into her DMs after posting viral thirst trap pics

Martha Stewart is turning heads at 84, and her Instagram is buzzing with admirers sliding into her direct messages. The lifestyle icon shared this fun detail during a lively chat on NBC’s “Today” show, where hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Rosie Perez couldn’t resist asking about her viral “thirst traps”—those steamy selfies that have fans swooning.

“Lots of people” have been flirting in her DMs, Stewart admitted with a smile. But she’s keeping things casual. “No, I’m not dating anybody special,” she told the hosts. Instead, she credits her circle of friends for keeping her happy and content.

Stewart first dipped into thirst trap territory back in July 2020 at age 78, when she posted a sultry poolside photo from her East Hampton home. Rocking a sleek black swimsuit, frosty pink lipstick, and shimmery makeup, she emerged from the water with a playful pout. “My pool in East Hampton is the place to be on a 89 degree day!” she captioned it, adding that swimming there is “fun” after all these years.

Fans went wild, calling it the ultimate thirst trap—a sexy snap designed to spark desire. The post exploded, leading to a flood of proposals and flirty offers. Stewart later joked on “The Ellen Show” in 2021 that she had to brush them off because she’s “a very busy person.”

That accidental shot—aimed at a turquoise planter but flipping to selfie mode—sparked her ongoing love for provocative posts. In a 2023 People magazine interview, she explained, “It looked so good, so I posted it. I didn’t know what a ‘thirst trap’ was, but now I do. Now I’m looking for the next one. I love doing those promiscuous, provocative things because it’s just fun.”

Her bold Instagram style has opened big doors, like landing the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in May 2023. At 81, she made history as the oldest model to grace it, striking poses in a daring white one-piece swimsuit with a deep neckline and a flowing orange cover-up.

On “Today,” when Hager mentioned her recent 84th birthday, Stewart shut down the age talk quick. “Ugh, why do we need to talk about that?” she quipped, steering the conversation elsewhere. Stewart has long dismissed the “aging” label. In her SI interview, she said, “I think all of us should think about good living, successfully living and not aging. The whole aging thing is so boring. You know what I mean?”

Stewart’s confident vibe and thirst trap selfies continue to inspire fans, proving it’s never too late to embrace your sexy side and live life on your terms.
