Actor Mohanlal to be conferred Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Veteran Indian actor Mohanlal just earned one of the biggest honors in film: the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2023. This prestigious award recognizes his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema, and it’ll get presented at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on September 23, 2025.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry shared the exciting news, highlighting how Mohanlal’s incredible career journey inspires fans across generations. In their official announcement on X, they praised the legendary actor, director, and producer for his iconic roles, unmatched talent, versatility, and tireless dedication. “Mohanlal’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations!” the ministry posted, noting that his work sets a golden standard in Indian film history.

Mohanlal kicked off his acting career at a young age and has starred in movies across multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. With more than four decades in the industry, he’s no stranger to accolades—he received the Padma Shri in 2001 and the Padma Bhushan in 2019.
