Nicki Minaj tears into ‘Gavvy pooh’ Newsom after online battle with Elon Musk over trans daughter
California Governor Gavin Newsom pulled the latest back‑handed jab on billionaire Elon Musk, but the criticism landed a full‑stop on rap star Nick Minaj. The 43‑year‑old “Beez in the Trap” vocalist fired off a string of cheeky X posts on Friday, openly calling Newsom’s potential run for president a lost cause.
She paired her words with a handful of photos featuring the famously mischievous horror‑movie doll, Chucky. “Oh Gavvy pooh, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy,” Minaj wrote. “It’s the end of the road for you, my love.” She continued, “Get on the nearest jet ski & let that beautiful hair blow in the wind. It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace.”
Minaj, who has been publicly drifting toward Republican‑leaning circles recently, also labeled Newsom “the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was.” She added, “Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible,” in another tweet.
The exchange erupted after Musk’s America PAC shared a clip of Newsom from the Ezra Klein podcast in which the governor said, “I want to see trans kids,” citing his support for pro‑trans legislation. Musk responded on X with, “I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers.” The governor’s office shot back, “We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon,” in a quote‑tweet, referring to Musk’s daughter, model Vivian Jenna Wilson (formerly known as Xavier).
Minaj has been popping up as an unlikely conservative voice lately. She recently spoke with U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz at a U.S. event on religious violence in Nigeria, and on Friday favored VP J.D. Vance over Newsom in her public opinion posts. Newsom’s office has yet to comment on the whole saga.
