CEAT Limited, a leading Indian tyre maker, has exciting news for drivers and buyers: it’s slashing prices on all its tyres starting September 22. This move comes right after recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, and the company is passing on every bit of the savings to customers and dealers.
In a recent announcement, CEAT said the new lower prices will apply to its full range of products, thanks to the updated GST rates. For instance, GST on new pneumatic tyres drops from 28% to 18%, while tractor tyres and tubes now face just 5%. This means cheaper tyres for cars, bikes, trucks, and farm vehicles across India.
Arnab Banerjee, CEAT’s Managing Director and CEO, praised the GST changes as a smart and forward-thinking step. “These lower GST rates will help the entire tyre industry and everyday consumers,” he said. “Vehicle owners will save on maintenance costs, making it easier to replace worn-out tyres. Safer roads ahead, plus more people buying from formal channels for better compliance and sustainable growth.”
The timing couldn’t be better for the domestic tyre industry, which experts predict will grow 7-8% this fiscal year. Replacement demand is booming, fueled by positive rural vibes, upcoming festive shopping, and potential interest rate cuts boosting spending. Even with softer urban sales, steady investments in factory expansions, better production tech, and more R&D are keeping the momentum going.
