DoT, ITU hosts ‘Robotics for Good Youth Challenge India 2025’ at India Mobile Congress 2025

The Robotics for Good Youth Challenge India 2025 wrapped up Saturday at the India International Convention Centre in New Delhi, showcasing fresh ideas and hands‑on robotics from students across the country.

Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under its AI for Good Impact Initiative, the event partnered with the I‑Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), IIT Delhi, and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Ministry of Communications. The goal was clear: empower young people to build robot solutions that tackle food security and promote sustainable development.

A highlight was a special talk on “Digital Safety for Youth” delivered by Diksha Dhiman from ADET (AI & DIU), DoT. She urged school students to stay safe online, use technology responsibly, and act ethically. Students from eight states praised the session, showing the government’s commitment to nurturing responsible digital citizens.

The day brought together 271 participants from 55 teams nationwide. Their creativity and teamwork shone as they developed AI‑driven robots to meet the competition’s food‑security challenge. Two teams earned a place at the Global Grand Finale in Geneva, Switzerland, slated for July 7‑10, 2026. Team Heyansh (Junior) and Team Ambitious Avengers (Senior) will represent India among 25 countries under the AI for Good Impact Initiative.

Government officials and ITU leaders celebrated the collaboration between DoT, IHFC, and IIT Delhi for advancing digital innovation that serves society. They encouraged the young innovators to keep pushing boundaries while keeping ethics at the forefront.

The event, co‑hosted by the Department of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Communications, and the International Telecommunication Union, invited students aged 10‑18 to build, program, and test robots focused on agriculture and food security. Success at this national level now opens the door to the Grand Finale in Geneva, part of the AI for Good Global Summit 2026.

Through this challenge, India showcases its brightest young minds and its growing leadership in AI, robotics, and sustainable tech solutions. ()
