In Chennai on Sunday, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagenthran slammed the state’s Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, saying the government has let a big industrial deal slip away because of bureaucratic failings and weak investor confidence.
The criticism comes after Hwasung, a South‑Korean footwear maker that had proposed a ₹1,720‑crore project in Tamil Nadu, moved its plans to Andhra Pradesh. Nagenthran demanded that Stalin explain why a company that was expected to create almost 20,000 jobs for local youth chose another state.
He accused Stalin of announcing huge investments only to see them disappear, likening the pattern to the “Boy Who Cried Wolf” story. “Every time the government promises big projects, the same investment ends up elsewhere, and that’s a predictable trend,” Nagenthran said.
The BJP leader also blasted the Chief Minister’s overseas trips aimed at bringing in investors. “Stalin goes abroad claiming to bring money, but returns empty‑handed,” he noted. “Even investments that arrive without effort slip away because of administrative apathy.”
Nagenthran warned that the DMK government’s approach is a serious setback for Tamil Nadu’s industrial prospects and called for a full explanation of how the Hwasung project was lost so quickly. He doubted the Chief Minister’s claim that Tamil Nadu would “stand tall” and return to power in 2026, calling it laughable as the state’s economy weakens day by day.
