New Delhi, Dec. 28 – Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to outline the BJP’s approach for next year’s assembly polls in four key states—Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu—during a two‑week tour that kicks off today.
After the party’s triumph in the Bihar assembly elections, the Home Minister has been tasked with crafting a concerted strategy for the remaining contesting states, according to a party spokesperson. The minister will be in Assam on December 28‑29, West Bengal on December 30‑31, travels to Tamil Nadu in the first week of January, and will visit Kerala in the second week of the month.
Shah plans to spend a minimum of two days in each state while preparing for the campaigns, as three of the four seats are currently held by non‑NDA governments. He will hold internal meetings and engage with local party workers, focusing on energising “Panna Pramukhs” and rolling out the “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” initiative.
Sources within the BJP say that the minister is working to replicate the NDA’s overwhelming performance in Bihar, despite misinformation spread by the Mahagathbandhan regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Shah has repeatedly proven himself a decisive strategist, building state‑specific campaigns that incorporate the party’s national mascot and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal.
Integral to Shah’s winning formula is a strategy for dealing with party dissidents. He intends to prevent potential challengers—some of whom have already campaigned as independents—from eroding the alliance’s vote share. In Bihar, for instance, the minister is said to have personally heard from nearly a hundred rebels working against the party’s interests.
During the tour, Shah will also seek to gauge on‑ground sentiment, pinpoint pressing issues and prepare counter‑narratives to rival parties. Party officials noted that the BJP is developing a plan to challenge misinformation on topics such as the rural job scheme, the VB G RAM G program, SIR, employment figures and other socioeconomic concerns.
