Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita was in New Delhi on Tuesday to take part in the 80th‑anniversary celebrations of Indonesia’s Independence Day and Armed Forces Day. The event was hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in the capital, and the minister used the occasion to send warm wishes to the Indonesian government and its people.
“India and Indonesia share strong cultural ties and a solid Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Margherita said in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “I look forward to deepening cooperation in bilateral, regional and multilateral forums.” He also highlighted the friendship that has grown over the decades and the close steps both countries have taken to strengthen ties.
Earlier this year, President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia visited India during the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Modi and Prabowo met to discuss a wide range of issues, from defence and security to maritime affairs, trade, health, digital innovation and the blue economy. Both leaders emphasised the need to keep dialogue strong at all levels, including regular meetings, joint commissions and policy‑planning forums.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs noted that the leaders’ talks reaffirmed the depth of their cooperation and the importance of maintaining regular engagement at the leader, ministerial and senior‑official levels. The shared history and growing partnership are expected to drive future collaboration and mutual understanding between the two major Asian democracies.
