New Delhi, Nov 29 – Vinod Bansal, the national spokesperson of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), fired back at comments made on Saturday by Jamiat Ulema-e‑Hind chief Maulana Mahmood Madani.
In an interview with LatestNewsX, Bansal said Madani’s statements threaten the country’s identity, faith, culture, justice system and administration. He warned that a leader who compels people to “pierce the very plate they eat from” is endangering India.
Bansal accused Madani of stirring up Muslim youth and extremist radicals under the banner of jihad, a risk to national unity and security. “If he calls for a ‘jihad against oppression’ to rally young people, he is effectively backing terrorists,” he added. Minds turned to the Delhi blasts carried out by Dr. Umar, prompting Bansal to ask whether Madani also considered him a victim of oppression.
Speaking about Indian soldiers on duty along the borders, Bansal emphasized that they sacrifice their lives while singing “Vande Mataram,” and any insult to them is unacceptable. He demanded that authorities take stern measures against Madani’s remarks.
Bansal called on Muslims to steer clear of radical leaders who entice youth with promises of paradise, jihad and “72 houris,” which he said pushes them toward violence and tarnishes the nation’s reputation and the community’s image.
He also challenged Madani’s claim that the “Vande Mataram” chanters represent a “dead community,” calling it an affront to patriotism that must not be ignored.
In a separate critique, Bansal rebuked TMC MLA Humayun Kabir for comments on mosque construction in West Bengal. “Historically, Babur’s son was named Humayun, but today’s Humayun does not have Babur as his father,” he said. “Either he should say that Babur is his father or admit that he has adopted Babur and wants to build a mosque on that premise.”
