Conservative users on social media exploded with humor, turning the incident into a series of yoga‑themed memes that riff on the governor’s own post.
One X thread from the Monterey County Republican Party warned, “Gavin is really going to look back and regret this one,” and included a clip of Newsom, sporting a man‑bun, leading a yoga session with a lineup of prominent Democrats.
Another parody video shows the governor striking a pose reminiscent of Dwi Pada Sirsasana onstage at the New York Times Dealbook Summit, only to tumble off the chair and into the ocean.
On Friday, Newsom uploaded the doctored yoga photo to his X account, captioning it: “Democracy requires flexibility.”
A Twitter account claiming to be pollster Mark Mitchell commented, “They … posted this?” amid a flood of reactions to the bold move—an approach his press office often uses to mock Trump and other Republicans by mimicking the former president’s style.
