Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to kick off a major new initiative called Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, alongside the 8th Poshan Maah on September 17. This big push aims to boost women’s health, nutrition, and overall well-being for adolescent girls and children across India, making healthcare more accessible and effective for everyone.
The campaign brings together the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD) in a united effort to tackle key health challenges. MoHFW will roll out health camps and services at facilities nationwide, focusing on prevention, promotion, and treatment. Meanwhile, MoWCD will weave in Poshan Maah activities, rally women and girls through Anganwadi centres, and host nutrition workshops with recipe demos. Both ministries will team up for awareness drives on fighting anaemia, eating balanced diets, and maintaining menstrual hygiene, creating a well-rounded approach to women’s and girls’ health needs.
At its core, the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan supports PM Modi’s vision for a healthier, fitter India on the path to Viksit Bharat by 2047. This nationwide drive will deliver women-focused health services right at the community level, ramping up screening, early detection, and treatment for issues like non-communicable diseases, anaemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. It also spotlights maternal and child health through antenatal care, vaccinations, better nutrition, menstrual hygiene education, and tips on lifestyle and mental health.
Communities will get a strong nudge towards healthy habits, with extra focus on preventing obesity, improving diets, and encouraging voluntary blood donations. Health Minister JP Nadda shared his excitement on X, highlighting how the initiative will strengthen healthcare for women and children, improve access to quality services, and build awareness. He urged private hospitals and all healthcare players to join this people-powered Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyaan.
From September 17 to October 2, the campaign will light up Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres (CHCs), District Hospitals, and other government spots countrywide. Expect over one lakh health camps—the biggest outreach ever for women’s and children’s health in India—with daily sessions at every government facility.
Leaders like Central and State Ministers, MPs, and local reps will pitch in, while frontline workers such as ASHAs, ANMs, Anganwadi staff, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), urban bodies, MY Bharat volunteers, and youth teams lead the grassroots charge. Specialist care in gynaecology, paediatrics, eye, ENT, dental, dermatology, and psychiatry will come from Medical Colleges, District Hospitals, Central Government setups, and private partners.
Top institutions like AIIMS, Defence and Railway hospitals, ESIC facilities, CGHS centres, and Institutes of National Importance (INIs) will step up to ensure expert help and follow-up care reaches even remote areas. Many private health centres have already pledged support, promising to scale up the reach, quality, and impact of this vital women’s health and nutrition drive.
