‘Peaky Blinders’ is returning with sequel, Cillian Murphy to serve as executive producer
Exciting news for Peaky Blinders fans: the gritty gangster saga is back with a fresh sequel series that dives into a new era for the Shelby family.
Creator Steven Knight is bringing the story to life in 1953 Britain, right after World War II’s devastation. Netflix and the BBC have greenlit two full seasons, according to Variety. While the new cast remains a secret for now, original star Cillian Murphy jumps in as an executive producer to help steer the project.
The storyline picks up in bombed-out Birmingham, where the city rebuilds with concrete and steel. It turns into a fierce battle over a huge reconstruction effort, blending myth and mayhem. The Shelby family stays at the center, driving the drama in this blood-soaked tale of opportunity and danger.
Kudos and Garrison Drama will produce the series, with filming set to kick off at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. Knight shared his excitement in a statement: “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”
Each season packs six 60-minute episodes. Besides Knight and Murphy, executive producers include Karen Wilson and Martin Haines from Kudos, Jamie Glazebrook from Garrison Drama, Jo McClellan and Danielle Scott Haughton from the BBC, and Mona Qureshi and Toby Bentley from Netflix.
Peaky Blinders enthusiasts get even more to look forward to soon. A movie called The Immortal Man is slated for release in early 2026, keeping the Shelby legacy alive on the big screen.
