As Navratri approaches, excitement is building across Gujarat, especially in Ahmedabad, where international Garba dancer Anuj Mudaliyar is turning heads with his stunning themed turbans. Known as the city’s ‘Turban Man’, Anuj has been creating these eye-catching headpieces since 2017, adding a unique flair to the lively Garba dances that define the festival.
This year, Anuj has outdone himself with a massive 5-kilogram turban inspired by ‘Operation Sindoor’. He poured five months into the project, spending 4 to 5 hours every day on the detailed craftsmanship. The design showcases fighter jets, symbols of women empowerment, and even a portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Adorned with pearls, intricate Kutch-style embroidery, and soft cotton fabric, it blends India’s rich cultural heritage with a strong sense of national pride.
Anuj’s love for themed turbans started back in 2017 when he aimed to bring something fresh and visual to the Garba floor. His debut piece revolved around GST, followed by tributes to India’s heritage and PM Modi, which shot him to fame. Today, he’s a true icon in Ahmedabad’s vibrant Garba community.
But Anuj isn’t alone in the Navratri buzz. Artists everywhere are gearing up for the nine-night festival. Event organizer Deepak Sethia shared that teams are focusing on tight security and following all government safety rules to keep the celebrations safe and fun for everyone.
From the music scene, talents like music director Samir Rawal and singer Kavita Bodani are working hard on fresh beats and songs. They’re crafting tunes that promise to get dancers moving non-stop through the nights.
With all this preparation, Gujarat is all set for a Navratri filled with devotion, tradition, and fresh twists. And you can bet Anuj Mudaliyar’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ turban will be the talk of the Garba events this year!
