TN BJP seeks end to ‘Oppn assault’ on India’s sacred charter

Chennai, Nov. 26 (LatestNewsX) – In celebration of the 76th Constitution Day, BJP Tamil Nadu spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad released a forceful statement calling on the opposition to halt what he called a “shameful assault” on the sanctity of India’s Constitution.

The message was issued as the country marked the anniversary of the Constitution’s adoption in 1949 and paid tribute to B.R. Ambedkar and the members of the Constituent Assembly.

Prasad described the Constitution as “the holiest book of India” and the guiding force that guarantees justice, liberty, equality and fraternity to every citizen. He added that it is not just a legal document but “the living soul of Bharat,” a bond that unites people across caste, creed and region.

He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for upholding constitutional values with “devotion and integrity” for more than a decade, citing the Prime Minister’s symbolic act of holding the Constitution high in Parliament and his repeated reaffirmation of its primacy.

According to Prasad, the central government’s policies and welfare initiatives are designed to “deepen, never diminish,” the rights enshrined in the Constitution.

He critiqued opposition leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, M.K. Stalin and Mamata Banerjee, accusing them of “relentlessly undermining constitutional institutions” – especially the Election Commission of India.
Prasad claimed the opposition had spread misinformation about the electoral process and VVPAT verification, a campaign he said was “decisively rejected” by the voters of Bihar in the 2025 Assembly election.

He also slammed the opposition’s “foreign-inspired anti‑national narratives” aimed at discrediting the Union Government.

Highlighting several key policy moves – including the ban on instant triple talaq, the restoration of full citizenship rights in Jammu & Kashmir, women’s reservation in Parliament and the nationwide expansion of welfare schemes – Prasad said these illustrate how the Constitution is being turned from parchment into everyday life.

On Constitution Day, he urged a joint commitment to study and uphold the Constitution, instill its values in younger generations and ensure that political criticism remains factual, without dragging Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy into petty disputes.

Calling for unity, he referred to the Constitution as the “golden thread” linking the nation and urged all parties to reinforce, not weaken, the democratic foundation laid in 1949.

“Let this Constitution Day mark a turning point,” Prasad added, insisting that every Indian must become a proud guardian of the Constitution.
