Indian NGO urges UNHRC to hold sponsors of Pahalgam terror attack accountable

In a powerful appeal at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, an Indian NGO called Sambhali Trust has demanded justice for the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam. The attack, which killed 26 innocent civilians on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir, needs real accountability, they say.

Speaking at the 60th Session of the Council, Hansraj Singh, Sambhali Trust’s UN Relations Manager, didn’t hold back. He explained how terrorists, trained and brainwashed by state actors, targeted people based on their religion. “This was a brutal massacre that violates the basic right to life,” Singh said. He made it clear: the UNHRC must treat attackers and their backers the same—no excuses.

“Enough is enough,” Singh added firmly. He pointed out that state-sponsored terrorism destroys peace, stability, and human dignity everywhere. The group praised the UN Security Council’s quick condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack but pushed for more action. They want stronger support for local peacebuilders, tougher legal rules against terrorism, and immediate access for UN fact-finding teams and NGOs to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Singh called on the UNHRC to pull every legal tool to punish the perpetrators and their sponsors. The goal? Break the endless cycle of violence and protect civilians from more attacks like the one in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

This comes after the tragic April 22 incident, where Pakistan-backed terrorists struck in the scenic tourist spot, leaving 26 lives lost in a senseless act of terror.
