New Delhi, Oct 12 – Border Security Force (BSF) troops on the India–Pakistan line in Punjab stopped a series of smuggling attacks.
Five drones were seized, each carrying drugs and weapons, a BSF officer said. The drones were found near villages such as Naushera Dhalla, Havelian, Rajatal and Dal, close to the Amritsar and Tarn Taran border posts. Inside, three parcels of heroin weighed more than 2.29 kg and a pistol with its magazine were recovered.
“The operation shows how well‑trained and alert the BSF is against Pakistan‑based narco‑drone networks,” the officer added.
Earlier in the week, BSF troops at the India–Bangladesh frontier also made a major arrest. 32 Battalion soldiers at the Horandipur Border Outpost in West Bengal caught an Indian smuggler right in the act. Thanks to reliable intelligence, the soldiers set an ambush near the village of Muslimpara. At dawn, the suspect was surrounded. The search revealed 20 gold biscuits inside a plastic bag, worth about ₹2.82 crore.
The smuggler was taken to the BOP for questioning, and the gold was handed over to the authorities for legal action.
These actions illustrate the BSF’s ongoing efforts to protect India’s borders from drug, weapon and gold smuggling.
