Michelle Obama accused of taking Ozempic after showing off skinnier figure in new photo shoot
Michelle Obama is looking slimmer than ever, but many internet users aren’t convinced at first glance.
The former first lady faced speculation that she was using weight‑loss medication after posting sneak‑peek footage of a photo shoot with renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz on Instagram this weekend.
“Annie Leibovitz has always known that a photo can do more than preserve a moment — it can say something,” Obama, 61, wrote on Friday along with a picture that seems to show a leaner physique.
“Her book *Women* did exactly that, expanding how we see women and the lives they lead through her lens,” she continued alongside a clip from the photo shoot. “It was an honor to be photographed by Annie for the new edition, capturing the many ways women are showing up today.”
“I hope you’ll find it as inspirational as I do,” the mom‑of‑two closed, ending her post on a hopeful tone.
For the shoot, Obama posed in a gray T‑shirt, jeans, and brown suede boots, but she made sure to show off her toned arms and a strong stomach.
Nevertheless, the sudden change in her appearance has sparked baseless rumors that she’s hiding Ozempic or other GLP‑1 therapies to slim herself down.
“Ozempic – just like everyone on *The View* who suddenly decided to ‘get healthy,’” one user wrote on X. “I’m not knocking it – but for Christ’s sake – be honest about it!”
“GLP‑1. They have the money, they don’t have to worry about insurance covering it and jumping through those hoops.” another user commented. “The boomerang weight gain will be vicious… among other issues with that stuff.”
A third X user noted, “It’s called Ozempic.” Another added, “I would imagine Ozempic. That or a personal trainer and a strict diet, nah, Ozempic is way easier.”
We’ve reached out to Obama’s representative for a response.
In 2022, the former first lady explained how menopause pushed her weight higher.
“I never used to weigh myself,” she told People at the time. “I’m not trying to stick to numbers, but when you’re in menopause, you have this slow creep that you just don’t realize.”
“We’re all in menopause with stretchy bands and our athleisure wear on, and you look up and you can’t fit the outfits you had last year,” the podcast host said. “I have to be more mindful, not obsessive, but more mindful.”
Obama revisited the topic of aging and health during another conversation with the outlet earlier this month.
“My health has always been paramount,” she shared. “What I eat, working out, I go to regular doctor’s visits.”
“I do all the things that I’m supposed to do, because I value my health and that also allows me to enjoy this time, because I’m not achy, I’m not sore, I’m not sick,” Obama concluded. “I’m as vibrant as I’ve ever been.”
