Delhi Police Arrest BMW Driver in Tragic Hit-and-Run Case Involving Finance Ministry Official
In a shocking incident in New Delhi, police have arrested the BMW driver responsible for a fatal accident that claimed the life of a senior Finance Ministry official. The victim, Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, died on the spot, while his wife suffered serious injuries. The driver, Gaganpreet, now faces charges in this heartbreaking Delhi road accident.
The crash happened on Sunday evening near the Delhi Cantt metro station. Navjot Singh and his wife, Sandeep Kaur, were riding home on their motorcycle after visiting Bangla Sahib Gurudwara when the BMW struck them. Eyewitnesses and police reports suggest the high-speed collision left Singh dead and Sandeep in critical condition.
What makes this BMW hit-and-run case even more suspicious is how the injured couple was handled afterward. Instead of rushing them to a nearby hospital, Gaganpreet and her husband, Parikshit, who was in the passenger seat, drove the victims about 17-19 kilometers to Nulife Multi-Speciality Hospital in GTB Nagar. Several hospitals stood much closer to the Delhi accident site, raising big questions about their motives.
Nulife Hospital Director Shakuntala Kumar shared details with reporters. "The couple arrived on September 14 after a road accident between a BMW and a motorcycle," she said. "We gave first aid right away and called the police. The man, around 50-55 years old, was already dead. His wife had multiple injuries but asked to go to another hospital, so we helped transfer her after alerting authorities."
Interestingly, Gaganpreet and Parikshit also got treatment at the same hospital’s emergency department. Gaganpreet was discharged soon after, but police arrested her immediately. Parikshit, however, needed more care and was sent to a bigger facility.
Adding to the mystery, a cab driver named Gulfam helped transport the injured from Dhaula Kuan to Mukherjee Nagar. Police plan to question him soon about the route and why they chose such a far-off hospital in this Delhi hit-and-run investigation.
Navjot Singh’s son is furious and demanding answers. "My parents were coming back from Bangla Sahib when this accident happened," he told reporters. "Why take them 17 km to GTB Nagar? My father is gone, and my mother is fighting for her life." He suspects the BMW driver seemed injured too, but claims the hospital isn’t being transparent. He even worries they might be covering up with a fake medico-legal report.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the BMW flipped on its side and the motorcycle near the road divider. A case is registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for rash driving and causing death by negligence.
The Delhi Police investigation continues, with more details expected soon. This tragic BMW accident in Delhi has sparked outrage over road safety and the suspicious hospital choice—stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
