US Open: Anisimova sets Swiatek showdown in QF; Osaka stuns Gauff

Amanda Anisimova Shines at US Open, Reaches Quarterfinals

Amanda Anisimova is making waves at the US Open 2025! She has advanced to the tournament’s quarterfinals with a straight-sets victory over Beatriz Haddad Maia, winning 6-0, 6-3.

Anisimova started strong, breaking Haddad Maia in the very first game, and from there, she kept her momentum. Her powerful serves and precise two-handed backhands helped her dominate the court. Although the second set was more challenging, Anisimova stayed focused and fought hard to secure her spot in the next round.

In the second set, Haddad Maia fought back after being broken initially, but Anisimova quickly responded. She broke Haddad Maia again in the final game, sealing her victory.

This win continues Anisimova’s impressive Grand Slam record, now at 42 wins and 22 losses. It also marks her best season yet, with a record of 35 wins and just 14 losses. Anisimova previously reached the semifinals at Roland Garros in 2019 and is now preparing to face the second seed, Iga Swiatek, in the quarterfinals. This will be their second meeting, and Anisimova is eager to avenge her loss to Swiatek at Wimbledon this year.

Meanwhile, Naomi Osaka is making her own comeback at the US Open. She defeated Coco Gauff 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021. Historically, every time Osaka has reached this stage in a major, she has gone on to win the title.

Osaka will next face Karolina Muchova of Czechia, the 11th seed, who knocked out Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in a tough match. Muchova is a two-time US Open semifinalist and is eager for another deep run in this year’s tournament.

In doubles, Venus Williams and Leylah Fernandez continue their strong run. They beat the No. 12 seeds, Ekaterina Alexandrova and Zhang Shuai, 6-3, 6-4, to reach the quarterfinals. This is Venus Williams’ first major doubles quarterfinal since 2017, and her 22nd time reaching this stage in a Grand Slam. She previously won the US Open doubles title twice, once with her sister Serena.

Williams and Fernandez will now face top seeds Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend, aiming for a spot in the semifinals.

Stay tuned as the US Open 2025 heats up, with top players battling for the coveted title!
