NDMA to support Uttarakhand in building disaster-resilient state with “Build Back Better” theme

NDMA Chief Visits Uttarakhand to Boost Disaster Management After Recent Calamities

Dehradun, Uttarakhand – Rajendra Singh, the Head of Department and a key member of India’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), dropped by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) on Friday. His main goal? To check out how recent natural disasters have hit the state and see what’s happening with relief and rescue efforts in the affected spots.

During the visit, Singh reviewed the ongoing operations and shared some smart ideas to ramp up disaster management. He focused on keeping people safe and pushing for sustainable development that lasts. "NDMA stands fully behind Uttarakhand," he said, highlighting their commitment to creating a disaster-resilient state through the ‘Build Back Better’ approach.

Singh made it clear that handling disasters isn’t just about quick fixes during crises. It’s a chance to rebuild smarter – with an eye on the environment and long-term growth. This way, areas can bounce back stronger and avoid future risks.

The discussion also covered the recent trip by the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) and plans for a Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA). Singh announced that a PDNA team will soon head to Uttarakhand. Once they assess the real damage from floods, landslides, and other events, the central government will step in with extra financial help to support recovery.

This visit comes at a crucial time as Uttarakhand deals with the aftermath of heavy rains and disasters, showing how national and state teams are teaming up for better preparedness and aid.
