Jan Suraaj, the new political party led by strategist Prashant Kishor, said on Friday that its three‑and‑a‑half‑year plan to reshape Bihar is now in the final stage.
Kishor explained that the party made a promise to the people of Bihar: it would travel to every village and pick leaders who had the knowledge and drive to change the state. He stressed that the chosen candidates come from ordinary backgrounds—no caste, religion, wealth or family connections give them a head start.
In a move that underlines this promise, the Jan Suraaj Party released its first slate of 51 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly election. The candidates, selected for their hard work over the past two years, will be given the chance to stand in the polls and bring real improvement to Bihar.
The Election Commission has set the election dates. The 243 assembly seats will be contested in two phases: November 6 and November 11, with results announced on November 14.
The final voter roll lists 7.42 crore electors, down from 7.89 crore earlier this year. The commission has removed about 65 lakh voters from the draft list, bringing the final count to 7.24 crore as of August 1, 2025.
The Jan Suraaj Party’s push for a new political system in Bihar continues to gather momentum as the state moves toward the crucial election dates.
