“BJP just drags Congress into everything”: Udit Raj on Pitroda’s remarks

Congress Defends Sam Pitroda’s Pakistan Remarks Amid BJP’s Sharp Criticism

In a heated political exchange, Congress leader Udit Raj has come out in strong support of party advisor Sam Pitroda’s recent comments on Pakistan. Speaking to on Friday in New Delhi, Raj slammed the BJP for pulling Congress into needless controversies, especially when they have little else to focus on.

Raj explained that Pitroda, known as an intellectual, often shares his personal views on global issues. "Indian and Pakistani societies share some similarities," Raj quoted Pitroda as saying. He added that Pitroda’s trip to Pakistan was his own decision, and his opinions don’t always reflect the official Congress stance. Raj took a dig at the BJP, saying, "They don’t achieve much themselves but drag Congress into every debate. Remember ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – the world is one family? Does that exclude Pakistan? Even PM Modi visited Pakistan unannounced once."

This defense comes after Pitroda reportedly told the media that he visited Pakistan and felt right at home there, sparking a major row in Indian politics.

Another Congress leader, Tariq Anwar, weighed in cautiously. He said he wasn’t sure about Pitroda’s exact words but recalled former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s wisdom: "We can change many things, but not our neighbors." Anwar added that only time will reveal how India’s ties with neighbors like Nepal or Bangladesh evolve.

On the other side, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla didn’t hold back. He fiercely attacked Congress, dubbing it the "Islamabad National Congress" instead of the Indian National Congress. Poonawalla accused the party of a long-standing "collaboration" with Pakistan, pointing to past instances where Congress allegedly gave Pakistan a free pass on terror attacks like 26/11 Mumbai, Pahalgam, and Pulwama. "Now Pitroda says Pakistan feels like home, where Hindus face violence," he fumed. "This soft spot for Pakistan shows up again and again in Congress’s actions."

Even NCP MP Sunil Tatkare, from the NDA camp, called Pitroda’s remarks "unfortunate and sad for India." In his interview, Tatkare noted that Pitroda grew up and succeeded in India, making such comments all the more disappointing.

As India-Pakistan relations remain a hot-button issue in Indian politics, this spat highlights the ongoing tensions between Congress and BJP ahead of key elections. Will Pitroda clarify his views? Stay tuned for updates on this Congress-BJP controversy.
