A 16‑year‑old guy was hit by a stray bullet and ended up paralyzed after gunfire broke out at a Brooklyn football match this past weekend, police and other sources say. The teenager, who wasn’t the intended target, was struck in the back around 4:15 p.m. Sunday during a game on Avenue J and East 16th Street in Midwood. He was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where doctors reported that his injuries were not life‑threatening, but the stray shell left him unable to walk.
Police say two men, last seen in black track suits and wearing face masks, ran away from the scene and had not been located by Tuesday. Seven shell casings were recovered at the location, and a gun was found roughly a block away. It’s still unclear whether the injured teen was in the game or just watching from the sidelines.
