Actor Bobby Deol joined the vibrant Vijayadashami celebrations at Lav Kush Ramlila in Delhi, where he dramatically shot an arrow to set fire to Ravan’s effigy. This symbolic act highlighted the timeless triumph of good over evil, drawing huge crowds of devotees eager to experience the grand finale of Navratri.
In the heart of the national capital, President Droupadi Murmu took part in Vijaya Dashami events organized by the Shri Dharmic Leela Committee. She shared warm greetings, emphasizing how humanity shines when good prevails. “When the demon of terrorism strikes, we must fight back,” she said. Murmu praised Operation Sindoor by Indian forces as a powerful stand against the “Ravan of terrorism,” thanking every soldier who protects Bharat Mata.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also immersed herself in the festivities at PU Block Ramlila Ground in Pitampura. Across states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, people lit up the night with Ravan Dahan ceremonies, celebrating truth’s victory over evil.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his Vijayadashami wishes via a post on X, calling the festival a beacon of good and truth defeating evil and lies. He hoped it would inspire everyone to embrace courage, wisdom, and devotion. “My warmest greetings to my family members across the country,” Modi added.
Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, honors Lord Rama’s defeat of the demon king Ravan, sparking the tradition of burning effigies of Ravan, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran in cities nationwide. This lively festival wraps up the nine-day Navratri worship and falls on the 10th day of the Hindu month of Ashvin, usually in September or October. It kicks off preparations for Diwali, just 20 days away, with massive enthusiasm from north to south India.
