Govt will ensure exemplary punishment for Delhi blast accused: HM Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah sharply warned that anyone linked to the Red Fort bomb blast will face court and harsh punishment. Speaking during the launch of Shri Motibhai R. Chaudhary Sainik School and Sagar Organic Plant in Boriyavi, Gujarat, Shah said that the government will send a strong message to the world by delivering “exemplary” punishment to the perpetrators and that India’s zero‑tolerance policy towards terrorism will guide the case.

Shah also paid tribute to the victims of Monday’s attack near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, where a bomb exploded in a Hyundai i20, killing civilians and injuring about 25 people. In a video message to audiences in Gujarat, he expressed deep condolences to the families and urged that every person involved—at any level—be brought before a court.

Police investigations reveal that 32 vehicles, including a Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Swift Dzire and Ford EcoSport, were prepared to carry explosives or bombs. Sources close to the probe told NDTV that the cars, many of which have been resold multiple times, were part of a planned “revenge” attack targeting several locations. The investigation also uncovered an unexploded device linked to a car that had exploded on December 6, the day the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished.

All four key cars have now been located. The Brezza (registration HR87 U 9988) was found on the campus of Al‑Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre in Faridabad, Haryana—an area that has become a hotspot for terrorist activity. The EcoSport (registration DL10 CK 0458) was abandoned in Faridabad and a young, unidentified man was found sleeping in its back seat and has been taken into custody.

The Delhi authorities remain on high alert as the investigation progresses, and they reaffirm their determination to bring the perpetrators to justice.
