Bruce Springsteen stepped in to help a director and his family when Los Angeles wildfires struck. The 76‑year‑old rocker rescued film-maker Scott Cooper and his wife after their hometown home was destroyed.
Cooper, 55, was filming the new biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere when he received the news that his house had gone up in flames. He said he was left at a loss, crying in a corner on set while shooting a scene with Jeremy Allen White, who plays the iconic singer, and Stephen Graham as his father. The same day, Cooper’s family had to let their dog go, adding another blow to their already painful winter.
Springsteen didn’t let the family face that crisis alone. “He moved my family into his home,” Cooper told People magazine. “When my daughter Stella’s guitar burned, Bruce sent her a new one.” The rocker’s generosity gave Cooper and the film a deeper meaning, he said, because the movie now reflects what it feels like to receive help when you need it most.
The biopic, which opens on October 24, 2025, follows Springsteen’s life and career. In La Crosse, the film’s partner, the earnest story of a family caught in a blaze and then finding a lifeline in a superstar is one of spring’s biggest sensations.
For fans of Springsteen and Hollywood drama alike, the film will provide a reminder that help can come from the most unexpected places—even when trials strike.
