Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy slams ‘fattening’ airport snacks: ‘Full of butter, sugar, and crap’
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has publicly called for a shake‑up of what people eat on planes, urging airlines to replace the usual “crap” of calorie‑laden snacks with healthier choices. He joined Blaze News on Tuesday, saying,
“I would love some better snacks. I would love a little healthier snack on the airplane,” Duffy told the outlet.
He went on to note that he’d rather avoid the “really fattening cookie full of butter, sugar, and crap” or the “little snack pack of pretzels” that are routinely offered.
Duffy’s snack crusade comes amid a broader appeal to travelers heading home for Thanksgiving. He warned that airlines have seen “a degradation in civility, in the airspace,” and that there are no laws to force better behavior. “I think you won’t get a better result unless you make the ask,” he added.
The congressman also urged passengers to project a more polished image by leaving slippers and pajamas behind, and to help fellow flyers with heavy carry‑ons. “If we can help someone as we get on the aircraft that might need to help putting their bag in the overhead bin, and you’re a little stronger, a little buffer, you’ve been lifting, stand up and offer to grab that bag and put it up for someone,” he said.
Opinions about Duffy’s suggestions split the New York City air‑travel crowd. Some stylish flyers applauded the push for etiquette, while others felt the transportation secretary had “lost the plot.”
