Salvation Army bell ringer allegedly tries to ‘impale’ store manager with donation kettle tripod

A 63‑year‑old Salvation Army volunteer in Florida was taken into custody during Christmas week after a drunken altercation at a Publix in Stuart.

Steven Pavlik, who was filling in as a holiday bell‑ringer for the charity, reportedly got intoxicated while on duty and started harassing customers outside the store. When the Publix manager approached him, Pavlik allegedly tried to “impale” the manager with a donation kettle tripod. The manager emerged uninjured.

Deputies chased the suspect after he fled on foot. He was later located at his home, where he was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident in a Facebook post, noting that Pavlik’s conduct had escalated from a routine charitable effort to a violence‑laden confrontation. Neither Publix nor the Salvation Army has yet issued a statement.
