Taylor Swift is stepping up for her longtime friend Blake Lively in a heated legal fight against Justin Baldoni. The pop superstar has agreed to give testimony in Lively’s lawsuit, but only if the court extends the deadline for her deposition.
Reports from Page Six say Swift’s involvement hinges on Lively’s lawyers convincing Judge Lewis J. Liman to push back the discovery cutoff date. The singer might face questions about any chats she had with Baldoni regarding the tough working conditions on the set of their movie, It Ends With Us. Baldoni’s team already got court approval to dig into text messages between Lively and Swift.
Lively’s attorney pushed back against a full 30-day extension request from Baldoni’s side, known as the Wayfarer Parties. They argued it was just a ploy to squeeze in Swift’s deposition during October 20-25, when the singer has packed professional commitments.
This drama has strained the once-close bond between Swift and Lively. Their friendship, which dates back years, seems to have cooled off since Swift got pulled into Lively’s high-profile clash with Baldoni, her co-star and director in It Ends With Us. Lively even skipped congratulating Swift on her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce.
Swift’s name keeps popping up in the lawsuit. Baldoni’s lawyers claimed she pressured him to okay changes Lively wanted in the film. In response to a subpoena, Swift’s team fired back, calling it a cheap tactic to turn the case into tabloid fodder and grab headlines instead of sticking to the real issues.
A source close to the situation told People that Swift feels deeply hurt by being dragged in. "Their friendship has halted. Taylor wants no part in this drama," the insider shared.
At the heart of it all, Lively accuses Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation. She claims the film’s producers started a smear campaign against her after she raised concerns about the on-set environment. The battle over It Ends With Us set conditions continues to make waves in Hollywood.
