Dia Mirza connects with woman leaders from all sectors: ‘Women rise, the world rises’

Dia Mirza, the Bollywood star from the hit film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, isn’t just shining on screen—she’s a big advocate for social causes like protecting the environment and boosting women’s empowerment. Recently, she joined top women leaders from around the world at the Women Rise For All lunch event during the UN General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York.

Dia shared some exciting glimpses from the gathering on her social media, connecting with inspiring women from politics, business, and beyond. In her post, she captured the energy perfectly: "Women rise, and with them, the world rises… For People, For Planet, For Peace. At the Women Rise For All Lunch during #UNGA80, I witnessed the incredible force of women leaders who bring not just wisdom and experience, but also courage and compassion to the table."

She gave a shoutout to the powerhouse lineup on the panel, moderated by BBC News chief anchor Caitríona Perry. The group included UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, who drove home the point that "in the job that gets done—the done are women." Other stars were Iceland’s Prime Minister H.E. Kristrún Frostadóttir, former Ethiopian President H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, former Liberian President H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and UNCTAD Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan.

Dia reflected on key takeaways from the event, saying leadership isn’t about power plays—it’s all about serving others, building inclusion, and paving the way for peace and progress. She loved the idea of "creating an echo chamber of kindness." The Women Rise For All network, spearheaded by the unstoppable Amina Mohammed, shows how women’s leadership pushes the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) forward. Dia wrapped up her post with optimism: "Here’s to forging connections, driving collective momentum, and never forgetting that women’s leadership transforms our world."

The event sparked buzz online, with Pakistani activist and speaker Muniba Mazari commenting, "What an absolute pleasure to have met you @diamirzaofficial!" Moments like these highlight how global women’s networks are making real change in empowerment and sustainability.
