Prime Minister Modi reviews 2025, looks forward to 2026

New Delhi – In a recent episode of his monthly radio show Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reflected on the key moments that defined India in 2025. He said the year had bolstered the country’s self‑confidence and set the stage for a fresh start in 2026.

Recalling a year of milestones

Speaking from the Prime Minister’s office, Modi opened with the words:
In just a few days, the year 2026 will knock on our door soon, and today, as I speak to you, memories of the entire year are swirling in my mind. Many images, discussions and achievements that united the nation. 2025 gave us many such moments that have made every Indian proud.

He went on to highlight achievements across a wide spectrum—from national security to sports, from scientific breakthroughs to cultural celebrations. “From national security to the sports field, from science laboratories to the world’s biggest stages, India’s imprint was everywhere.

Security and resolve

Modi lauded the Indian Armed Forces for their decisive action in May, calling Operation Sindoor a moment of national pride. “This year, Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s India does not compromise on its security.” He noted that the operation inspired widespread expressions of devotion toward Mother India. “During Operation Sindoor, pictures of love and devotion towards Maa Bharati emerged from across the nation. People expressed their feelings in their own ways.

Commemoration of a historic anthem

The Prime Minister also emphasized the global resonance when India marked 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram. “I had urged you to send your messages and suggestions with the hashtag ‘VandeMataram150’. The countrymen participated enthusiastically in this campaign.

Sporting triumphs

2025 proved memorable for Indian athletes. The men’s cricket team captured the ICC Champions Trophy, while the women’s team won the World Cup for the first time. In a historic first, Indian women with visual impairments triumphed in the Blind T20 World Cup, and the national side also secured a win in the Asia Cup T20. Para‑athletes earned multiple medals in world championships, illustrating that determination knows no limits.

Space and science

The year also saw a giant leap in space exploration when astronaut Shubham Shukla became the first Indian to reach the International Space Station, marking a milestone for Indian space science.

Environmental progress

Environmentalists pointed to notable achievements in conservation, including a rise in India’s cheetah population to over 30. Several initiatives across the country aimed at protecting the environment and wildlife made headlines.

Cultural and spiritual highlights

The Prayagraj Maha Kumbh at the start of the year drew worldwide attention, while the flag‑hoisting ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya in December filled the nation with pride.

Endowments of indigenous pride

Modi underlined the strong support for “Swadeshi” products, noting how citizens increasingly chose goods made by Indian artisans and enterprises.

Looking ahead

While applauding the many successes, the Prime Minister expressed sorrow over the natural disasters that struck parts of the country during 2025. He closed by saying the nation is ready to move into 2026 with fresh hopes and a renewed commitment to progress.
