Dubai’s DUCAB Eyes Big Role in Bengaluru Metro Expansion
Bengaluru is gearing up for some exciting developments in its public transport and infrastructure scene, thanks to a major player from the UAE. DUCAB Group, a top cable manufacturing company based in Dubai, wants to team up with Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to supply cutting-edge cables for the city’s growing metro network.
On Monday, a high-level team from DUCAB met with Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil to discuss collaboration opportunities. Patil shared that the company has already kicked off talks with BMRCL and its contractors. They’re focusing on providing fire-survival cables and extra-high-voltage options to power up Namma Metro safely and efficiently.
Owned jointly by the governments of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, DUCAB isn’t stopping at just the metro. The company offered to help build 132KV/33KV substations, ensuring a steady power supply for the metro lines without any hitches. Patil also pointed out DUCAB’s interest in supplying sustainable energy cable solutions for Bengaluru’s upcoming suburban railway system and the massive expansion of Kempegowda International Airport’s Terminal 2.
Key attendees at the meeting included DUCAB Board Members Charles Edouard Mellagui and Meshal Al Naqbi, Mohamad Meeran Saheb (Chairman of EMCO International), DUCAB Board Member Atheeqe Ansari, and Riju Mathew (Country Head-India for Ducab EW India Pvt. Ltd.).
This potential partnership could boost Bengaluru’s infrastructure push, making the city’s metro and rail networks more reliable and eco-friendly. With DUCAB’s expertise in advanced cable solutions, Namma Metro and beyond might soon see smoother operations and greener tech. Stay tuned for updates on this Bengaluru Metro collaboration!
