‘95 pc tickets sold,’ confirms PCA chief as Mullanpur set to host first-ever men’s international match

Mohali, Dec 10 (LatestNewsX) – Punjab Cricket Association president Amarjit Singh Mehta revealed that the upcoming second T20I between India and South Africa at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh’s Mullanpur has already sold 95 % of its tickets, pointing to an almost‑full stadium.
He added that the match will feature several BCCI officials, as the venue prepares for its very first men’s international fixture. The event will be graced by Mithun Manhas, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
On Thursday, two brand‑new stands will open: one named after former all‑rounder Yuvraj Singh and another honoring the Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who steered the side to a World Cup triumph.
“This is the first men’s international match to be hosted at the PCA Mullanpur Stadium. It’s a huge event, and many BCCI dignitaries, including President Mithun Manhas, will be in attendance. We expect local officials such as the Governor and the Chief Minister to confirm their presence today; hopefully they will also join us tomorrow,” Mehta told LatestNewsX. “Tickets are already 95 % sold.”
He went on to describe the new additions, noting a stand named for Yuvraj Singh right below the screen and another for Harmanpreet Kaur to recognize her recent worldwide success. “These upgrades give the boxes an entirely different atmosphere. We’ve made numerous arrangements and modifications to give this match a fresh feel,” he added.
India won the opening T20I on Tuesday, holding a 1‑0 lead in the five‑match series.
