Mohanlal, the celebrated Malayalam actor, is enjoying several proud moments this year. After winning the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award, he met with Gen. Upendra Dwivedi, the Indian Army Chief, in New Delhi. The actor praised the Chief for the recognition and said it felt “an honor” to receive a commendation from someone who leads the army. He also thanked the Chief for the friendly lunch they shared.
Mohanlal has served in the Indian Territorial Army for 16 years and used the meeting to discuss ways to boost the efficiency of TA battalions. He also hinted at future films that focus on the Indian Army, a topic that has resonated with fans for years.
Earlier this month, the Kerala government honored Mohanlal at the Malayalam Vanolam Lalsalam event in Thiruvananthapuram. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented him with a citation written by poet Prabha Varma, celebrating his achievements. Mohanlal shared photos of the ceremony on his X account, thanking the state government for the warmth and “profound gratitude” it gave him.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award itself was presented by President Droupadi Murmu at the 71st National Awards ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 23. The award is the highest honor in Indian cinema and shines a spotlight on Mohanlal’s lifetime contributions to Malayalam film.
With both national and state recognition, Mohanlal’s star continues to rise, and he remains eager to connect his artistic work with his service to the country.
